French II-We started Unit 8 and learning about rooms of the house and furniture and chores. The students created haunted houses and labeled them and had a quiz last week. We also started the imparfait tense, another way to speak in the past, that means when we used to do something or when we were doing something. This is different from the passé composé that we just learned that means what we did at a specific moment in time (yesterday, last weekend, last week, last year).
French IV-We have been reviewing the passé composé and imparfait in great detail. We will have our test over Unit 3 this week over the vocab and the verb review. French II-We are finishing up our Unit 7 this week with a unit test tomorrow (please see the French II page for some practice activities). The students have been presenting on a trip they "took" to their French-speaking country and describing the activities they did while there. We've been seeing some pretty cool places and things to do around the world.
French IV-The students are presenting on their current events from their French-speaking countries and we've been learning a lot about what's going on around the world. We will pick up with a review of past tense verbs and the differences between passé composé and imparfait. We can never have enough practice with this! French II: Had such a great break and now we are back in full swing. This week we have been working more with passé composé (this time with helping verb être). We will have a quiz over this on Monday. Today in the lab we started our speaking assessment for the unit where the students pretended to visit their French-speaking country and will report back on the great things they "did" while they were there. The rubric is attached below. Also due is the reading for our unit found in the online book, p. 238, and answer the questions at the bottom. You can either answer on paper to turn in or answer on-line (click on the little mouse next to the questions). Extra credit opportunity to find a magazine picture or a picture on-line will be due next Friday. You will write 2 sentences about the picture. 1 sentence will use a verb with etre in the past tense and 1 sentence will use a verb with avoir in the past tense.

We will be slowly wrapping up the unit next week and taking a quiz over the verbs and unit test next Friday. French II: I can't believe it's already September! We quizzed this week over clothes and regular and irregular RE verbs, learning how to use them with meaning and conjugation in context.
